Lee Cozens has joined the RSPB’s team at the Eastern England Regional Office as Community Talks Officer, a new post for the region.

Based at the RSPB’s Norwich office, she will be getting out and about in Norfolk and Suffolk to give talks to groups and societies about the work of the RSPB. It’s a new service to encourage more people to get involved with the natural world.

Lee was born in Singapore – her father was teaching army children – but grew up in Beccles and has lived in Norwich since the early 1990s. She started her career as a Middle School teacher but later became a Countryside Ranger for the Broads Authority as her interest in wildlife and concern for the state of the environment grew.

Lee already has some 20 talks lined up to a range of community groups but is now hoping to receive invitations from many more. These include six talks about garden birds at Notcutts Nursery in Norwich on 25 and 26 January just before the Big Garden Birdwatch on 27-28 January.

Lee is pleased to have several bookings already from health groups. She is offering these groups and others follow up guided walks to their nearest RSPB reserve.

She says: “In East Anglia we are blessed with some very special places to see wildlife. Sharing in the magic of wildlife, combined with gentle exercise, is fun and brings health benefits.”

“I’m looking forward to hearing from groups and societies who want to find out more about birds and wildlife and to discover some of the UK’s most exciting bird spectacles on their doorstep.”

Lee can be contacted at the RSPB’s Norwich office on 01603 697592.
